Help needed!

Hi, my name is Rob. For almost two years, I’ve been working with a screenwriter to develop a storyline and script for a post-Deathly Hallows fanfilm. What we came up with is a very interesting and exciting story, which takes place over the course of four short films. But I need help. And what better place to turn to than the Harry Potter fandom!

In accordance with Warner Bros., I am not allowed to make any kind of profit off of this film. Because of that, it’s very, very difficult to get funding. All of our actors are working for free, as is the crew. Now, I’m not asking for money (though you can throw some our way, we wouldn’t complain)… just help. There are a few objects and costumes that I need (listed below). Some of them will only need to be used for a day or so, while some of them will be seen throughout all of the films.

There are also a few roles that still need filling. I’m willing to audition anyone, but keep in mind that there WILL be an audition process. I want to make sure that the people I put in roles are right for them, and have the necessary skills to portray that character. I’ll talk more about the individual roles I’m still seeking later.

Costumes I need:

- At least three sets of Death Eater robes with masks. More would be better. Adult sizes.

- Three plain, hooded robes. Black or brown. Note: These are NOT House robes. Adult sizes.

- One set of plain robes without a hood. Adult size. This isn’t necessary, but it’d be nice to have.

Objects/props I need:

- A carved, wooden box, at least 15” long, but no longer than 20”. If it’s not carved, that’s okay, too. But carved would be better.

- One HP-style broom. When it comes time to shoot the fourth short we will need more, but we’re taking a break between the third and fourth, and we only need one broom in the first three.

- Two English-style teacups with matching teapot.

- Body harness and wire for rock-climbing or spelunking, to be used when shooting flying scenes. Again, we will need more of these as we work on the fourth short.

- Large mat, like for gymnastics, which someone can fall onto from a few feet up and not be hurt.

- Three pint glasses, English-style (if there is a difference)

Now, in terms of the actors I’m still seeking, most of them are extras or one-liner roles. There is one role, however, that is a supporting character. There will be more supporting roles that need casting when it comes time to shoot the fourth short, but as I said before, that won’t be shot until later, and those roles are not a priority right now. Also, since we will be shooting primarily in New Jersey, I’m only looking for actors who either live in NJ or wouldn’t mind making the trip to NJ rather often.

Roles I am seeking:

- BERNARD MALLORY (43 years old) a charming British man who seems to be aging quite well. He is very protective of his daughter. From Manchester, with an accent to match.

- SERRA’S FRIENDS (16-20 years old) Seeking 2-3 fun, spunky-looking girls.

- DEATH EATERS (20’s, 30’s, 40’s, etc.) Will need 2-3 for the first three shorts. Can be the same people who donate robes, if any, but a believable English accent will be necessary.

- AIRPORT PATRONS (any age) 10-20 people to briefly mill around an airport.

- STREET PATRONS (any age) can be the same people as airport patrons, only with different clothes.

- BARTENDER (20’s, 30’s) Any gender

- PUB PATRONS (16 and up) Again, can be the same as the airport patrons, but wearing different clothes again.

Now, there’re two more things I’d like to ask all of you. In addition to all of this (and I hope you’re all still reading, haha), I’d like some help behind the camera. It’d be great if I could have help in the form of grips, electricians, camera operators, wranglers, location scouts/managers, makeup persons, and other things. If you don’t have any experience working on a film set, that’s perfectly alright. If you do, that’s even better! But keep in mind, we’re going to be unable to pay you for your help. But you will get the satisfaction of helping the fandom by creating another chapter in the Harry Potter saga for their enjoyment!

I’m also looking for some film equipment. I do have access to some, but it is pricy. If there is anyone out there who has any of the following equipment and would be willing to allow me to use it for the film, that would be incredible.

Equipment:

- Camera (The lowest quality I would like to shoot on would be a Panasonic DVX100, but better quality, or even a High-Def would be great!)

- 35mm camera adapter with wide angle, regular, and telephoto lens (You know, if you just happen to have a $3000 piece of equipment lying around)

- Film lights (anything would help)

- Boom mic with pole and XLR cable. Recorder will help, too

- Slate

- C-stands

- Flags

- Diffusion paper

- High-quality tripod

- Tripod head

Thank you all for taking the time to read this. Anything any of you can do, even if it’s letting us borrow your tea set, will help the production.

If you are able to help out with ANYTHING, or would just like to know more information, please contact me at hpfanfilm@gmail.com.

Sincerely,

Rob
